Certification: Upon answering a written paper and successfully passing CPR and AED skills you will receive an Irish Heart Association Course completion card.
Course Objective:
This course aims to teach First Aid, CPR and AED use to all lay rescuers.
Candidate Requirement:
Anyone who wishes to gain knowledge of First Aid, CPR and AED use.
Course Content:
Learn First Aid steps for Medical Emergencies for:
- Breathing Problems
- Chest pain & Heart Attack
- Fainting
- Diabetes
- Seizures
- Strokes
First Aid Steps for Injury Emergencies
- Bleeding you can see
- Mouth and tooth injuries
- Shock
- Bleeding you can't see
- Broken bones, sprains and bruises
- Burns and electrocution
First Aid steps for Environmental Emergencies
- Bites and stings
- Temperature-related emergencies
- Poison Emergencies
And on completion be able to demonstrate
- Opening a victims airway and check for breathing
- Recognize and treat choking
- Show first aid treatment of shock
- Apply slings and bandages
