Certification: A FETAC Level 5 Certificate will be awarded to each successful participant on this programme.

Course Objective:

  • Understand what the area of Infection Control means and its importance for every member of the Healthcare team.
  • Have a better understanding of the basic principles of infection control and be able to apply standard precautions in relation to infection control
  • Be aware of the importance of infection prevention and control in providing a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Be aware of healthcare-associated infection
  • Understand ones ‘own role in the prevention of the spread of infection

Candidate Requirement:

  • Candidate Requirement: Leaving Certificate or equivalent, or relevant live and work experience.
  • Learners must also be capable of undertaking assessment work to Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard.
  • International learners undertaking this course should have confidence in their English language, reading, writing and comprehension skills.
