Manual Handling Instruction FETAC Level 6
In this Manual Handling Instruction Programme participants are trained to conduct Manual Handling Risk Assessments and deliver Manual Handling Training both in-company and externally. The course is intensive and highly participative.
The purpose of this Manual Handling Instruction Programme is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to effectively design and deliver manual handling instruction in the workplace.

Certification: On successful completion learners will receive a FETAC Level 6 Manual Handling Instruction Certificate.
Course Objective:
The purpose of this training course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to effectively design and deliver manual handling instruction in the workplace, training participants in Manual Handling Techniques and qualifying them to provide training to those involved in Manual Handling of Loads. The course aims to ensure that each participant gains a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibility of an Instructor to effectively instruct others.

Course Objective
On completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Explain the main components of relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
- Define the main components of the spinal column.
- Explain the main risk factors for back injuries related to manual handling.
- Describe current concepts of back care.
- Describe the concepts of ergonomics.
- Explain the manual handling risk assessment process.
- Carry out risk assessments and describe range of controls to avoid and reduce risk of injuries.
- Apply the main principles of manual handling to a range of manual handling tasks.
- Carry out a range of manual handling techniques and analyse the learner's performance.
- Develop inanimate manual handling training programmes.
- Deliver effective manual handling training programmes.
- Demonstrate understanding of adult learning principles and give effective instruction in practical manual handling techniques.
