Certification: A FETAC level 6 Certificate will be awarded to each successful participant on this course
Course Objective:
The module is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding required to operate effectively as a Supervisor or Line Manager.
Candidate Requirement:
Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.
Candidates should have organisational support and ongoing access to appropriate supervision practice experience in the workplace.
Course Content:
Day 1 : Supervisory Management
- Understand the key principles of supervising individuals and groups
- Core communication skills necessary for supervising and problem solving
- Employment law for supervisors and advice on records that needs to be kept
- Supervisory styles
Day 2 : Operational Planning
- Training needs analysis and planning staff development
- Planning operational goals and objectives for businesses and staff
- Explaining policies and plans for supervisors including compliance with health and safety
- Implementing work plans and using the most up to date technology
Day 3 : Team Leadership
- Understand what teamwork is and how it works, negotiating work plans with whole team
- Briefing a team, motivating a team and giving performance feedback to team members
- Evaluate the contribution of team members, managing over performers and managing the poor performer
Day 4 : Organisational Skills
- Time management; personal effectiveness and prioritising work
Assessment
Skills Demonstration 70%; Assignment 30%
