Certification: A FETAC level 6 Certificate will be awarded to each successful participant on this course

Course Objective:

This module aims to provide an opportunity for learners to gain valuable experience of working in an organization for a considerable period of time. It will enable them to facilitate the link between the subject knowledge gained from their course and the realities of the working world, thereby extending their key skills through action learning.

Candidate Requirement:

Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Course Content:

Day 1 : Planning and Preparation

• Preparing CV; cover letter; letter of application & college letter detailing work placement
• Research work placement; clothes code; interview techniques etc

Day 2 : Work Placement

• Undertake duties associated with full time work
• Establish skills necessary to fully integrate into a work place, team work skills
• Evaluate work place in terms of terms and conditions of employment; employment rights

Day 3 : Review and Evaluation

• Critically evaluate work placement in terms of previous aims and objectives
• Devise strategies for coping with work placement in unfamiliar work places
• Research career opportunities; evaluate job opportunities
